Bowie Dryer Vent Cleaning is a sole proprietorship based in Bowie, Maryland. "We", "us", and "I" refer to that business; "you" refers to the customer.

Information on this site is provided in good faith for general guidance. Prices, service areas, and availability described here may change. Nothing on this site forms a contract until an appointment is agreed. Guidance published here — including any article about cleaning a dryer vent yourself — is general information, not instructions tailored to your property, and any work you carry out on your own home is at your own risk.

The service

What is included

A standard dryer vent cleaning includes an airflow reading at the exterior vent before work, cleaning of the full duct run with a rotating brush and vacuum capture, clearing of the exterior hood and flap, brushing of the lint trap housing, moving and reconnecting the dryer, a second airflow reading, and before-and-after photographs.

What is not included

Air duct or HVAC cleaning. Appliance repair. Work on gas lines or appliance components. Replacement, rerouting, or alteration of ductwork, which is licensed home improvement work in Maryland and is referred to a licensed contractor. Vents terminating on a roof are not serviced and are referred out.

Pricing

Standard wall-exit cleaning is $169. Second-floor wall-exit cleaning is $239. These are flat rates. A job taking longer than expected does not change the price.

Additional items — hose replacement, bird guard installation, or similar — are quoted separately on site and are only carried out with your agreement, given at the time. You will never be billed for something you did not approve.

Prices shown on this site are current at the date above and may change for future bookings. The price quoted to you at the time of booking is the price that applies to your job.

The free inspection

The airflow inspection is free and carries no obligation to book anything. If the reading indicates your vent does not need cleaning, that will be said plainly and there is no charge for the visit. This applies to a single inspection at one property, arranged in good faith.

Access and your responsibilities

• An adult aged 18 or over must be present at the property for the appointment.
• Reasonable access is needed to the dryer, the surrounding area, and the exterior vent. Please clear space around the appliance beforehand.
• Pets should be secured.
• Where ladder work is required, the ground beneath the exterior vent must be safely accessible. If it is not, the job may need to be rescheduled or declined.
• Please tell us in advance if you know the ductwork is damaged, if the vent has never been cleaned, or if there is a bird or animal nest.

Pre-existing conditions

Dryer ductwork, particularly flexible foil and older plastic ducting, becomes brittle with age and heat. Cleaning applies mechanical force to that ducting. Where a duct, joint, or exterior hood is already degraded, it can fail during an ordinary cleaning carried out with reasonable care.

Where such a condition is visible before work begins, it will be pointed out and photographed, and you can decide whether to proceed. Where it is concealed inside a wall and could not reasonably have been identified beforehand, this business is not responsible for the failure of already-degraded materials, though we will always tell you what happened, show you photographs, and help you understand what is needed to put it right.

Cancellation

Please give as much notice as you can. There is no cancellation fee. Repeatedly missed appointments may mean future bookings are declined.

Payment

Payment is due on completion. Card, cash, and common transfer apps are accepted.

If something goes wrong

Tell us. Call or text (202) 677-9162 or email hello@bowiedryerventcleaning.com. Complaints are handled directly by the owner, and the intention is always to resolve matters without formality.

This business carries general liability insurance and a certificate is available on request. Liability for any claim arising from a job is limited to the amount paid for that job, except where the law does not permit such a limit. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Licensing

Dryer vent cleaning is not work requiring a Maryland Home Improvement Commission licence. Replacement, rerouting, and structural alteration of ductwork do require one, are not performed by this business, and are referred to a licensed contractor.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland.
