What dryer vent cleaning costs here.
Most companies won't publish a number. Mine is $169, flat. Below is that price, what moves it in either direction, and how to tell a real quote from a teaser.
Dryer vent cleaning in Bowie, Maryland costs a flat $169 from Bowie Dryer Vent Cleaning for a standard wall-exit vent, including a free airflow test before and after and before-and-after photos. Across Maryland, homeowners typically pay between $125 and $200 for a standard vent. Second-floor wall exits are $239. Roof-mounted exits are referred out.
Published, not quoted at the door
Four things, and none of them are your house's value
Where the vent exits
A ground-level wall exit is the cheap end everywhere. Roof and second-storey exits add ladder time and equipment, and run $180 to $250+ across most of Maryland.
Length of the run
Most flat rates cover runs under about 10 feet, with $10 to $15 added per additional 10 feet. Bowie's newer builds with upstairs laundry rooms often run 20 to 30 feet.
Number of bends
Every 90-degree turn is somewhere lint packs and a brush can snag. More turns means more passes.
What's in there
Ordinary lint is routine. A bird nest is a different job and is usually priced at $120 to $250 across the market.
You'll notice square footage isn't on that list. If a company prices your dryer vent off the size of your home, they're pricing the customer, not the job.
Three kinds of company, three kinds of price
Bowie homeowners generally get quotes from three different business models. They aren't quoting the same job, which is why the numbers look so far apart.
| Type | How they price | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|
| National cleaning brandsFranchise-operated; several serve Bowie | Dryer vent is an add-on to a carpet or duct appointment. | Well reviewed and easy to book. The vent is not the core service, and pricing is usually best when bundled with something else you were buying anyway.Franchise pricing varies by location — get a quote for your address rather than relying on a national figure. |
| Regional air duct companiesMostly based 30–60 minutes out | Dryer vent priced low as an upsell to $400–$900 whole-home duct cleaning. | Genuinely cheap if you want the duct cleaning. If you only need the dryer vent, expect the conversation to move toward the larger job. |
| Dryer vent specialistsWhat this is | Flat rate for the vent itself, published up front. | No bundle to sell you, so the price stands on its own. Ask whether airflow is measured — that's what separates a cleaning from a verified cleaning. |
And a fourth worth naming: the $56 to $79 advertised specials in the sponsored results. Those work as lead prices rather than job prices — the arithmetic is below.
What the $56 ads actually are
Search "dryer vent cleaning near me" and the sponsored results at the top will quote $56, $69, $79. Those numbers are printed on the ad, but they aren't what the job ends up costing. The reason is in the advertising math — and it holds even on the most generous assumptions.

Click costs are estimates from keyword tools reporting Google Ads data for Maryland, not figures published by Google, and they move around. The conversion figure is deliberately optimistic — most home services advertisers need considerably more than ten clicks to book a job. Run it with worse numbers and the gap only widens.
Even at the best-case figures above, the advertising costs several times the advertised job. That gap has to be closed somewhere, and generally it's closed on site: a longer vent than the ad assumed, a duct cleaning, a carpet package, a part that needs replacing. The advertised price is best understood as the cost of the visit, not the cost of the work.
The ads tend to say so themselves, in the small links underneath: carpet cleaning, two rooms for $69, air duct cleaning for $99, upholstery. Those are the services the visit is really for.
$169 is what the job costs when there's no ad budget to recover and no second service to sell you. It's a higher number than the ads. It's also the number on the invoice.
Three questions worth asking
These work on any company, including this one. If you get a straight answer to all three, you're probably fine.
Is the price you just quoted the price on the invoice?
Ask it in those words. A flat-rate company will say yes without qualifying it. Watch for "starting at" and "depending on condition."
Do you measure airflow before and after?
Without a reading, nobody can tell you whether the vent is actually clear — including the technician. Most companies don't measure.
Will you show me photos of the duct when you're done?
Cheap to provide, and it's the difference between a job you can verify and one you have to trust.
Common questions about cost
How much does dryer vent cleaning cost in Bowie, MD?
Bowie Dryer Vent Cleaning charges a flat $169 for a standard wall-exit dryer vent, including a free airflow test before and after and before-and-after photos. Second-floor wall exits are $239. Roof-mounted exits are referred out. Across Maryland generally, homeowners typically pay between $125 and $200 for a standard vent, with roof and second-floor exits costing more.
Why do some companies advertise dryer vent cleaning for $56 or $69?
Clicks on those ads are expensive — keyword tools reporting Google Ads data put "dryer vent cleaning near me" in Maryland at roughly $20 to $27 per click. Even assuming a generous one booking per ten clicks, that is around $200 of advertising to win a $56 customer. The advertised figure works as a lead price rather than a job price, with the real number quoted on site. Ask any company whether the advertised price is the price on the invoice.
Is dryer vent cleaning cheaper if I bundle it with air duct cleaning?
Usually yes, because the technician is already on site. That is why most duct cleaning companies price dryer vents low as an add-on. If you only need the dryer vent, bundling means paying several hundred dollars for whole-home duct cleaning you did not come for.
Does the price change once you see the vent?
No. The quoted price is the price on the invoice. Badly clogged vents and long runs take longer, and that is absorbed rather than billed. If something beyond the cleaning needs attention, such as a crushed hose or a bird guard, it is shown to you and quoted separately before any work is done.
What does dryer vent cleaning include at this price?
A free airflow reading at the exterior hood, the full duct run cleaned end to end with a rotating brush and vacuum capture, the exterior hood and flap cleared, the lint trap housing brushed, the dryer pulled out and reconnected, then a second airflow reading and photos.
How much should I budget per year?
Most homes need service once a year, so budget around $169 annually. Homes with long duct runs, second-floor laundry rooms or heavy daily use may want twice-yearly service.
Free airflow test, then $169 if it needs it
