An example of the report you get on every job. Your own before and after readings, plus the photos.
Bowie Dryer Vent Cleaning is an owner-operated dryer vent cleaning service in Bowie, Maryland. Standard wall-exit cleaning is a flat $169. Most jobs take 45 to 60 minutes.
Every job starts with an airflow test
Most companies quote a price over the phone and hand you a different bill at the door. If your vent is running close to spec and doesn't need service, I'll tell you, and there's no charge for the visit.
Airflow test
I measure what's coming out of your exterior vent hood and write down the reading.
Full-length clean
Rotary brush through the complete duct run with vacuum capture. Usually 45–60 minutes.
Re-test and photos
Second reading, plus photos of the duct and the lint removed. The photos are yours to keep.
Anything I found
Crushed hose, broken flap, a nest — I show you the picture and quote it. You decide.
The price I quote is the price you pay
No trip fee, no "it was worse than expected" surcharge, no upsell script.
Hose replacement, bird guards and roof exits are covered on the full dryer vent cleaning cost page, along with what drives the price up or down in this market and why the $56 ads you see online aren't real prices.
What a clogged vent actually costs you
Lint builds up gradually, so most people never notice until the dryer stops keeping up. By then it's been running hot and long for months.
Longer drying times
A restricted vent means two or three cycles to do one cycle's work. That's on your energy bill every week.
A dryer that dies early
Heat that can't escape stays in the machine. The heating element and thermal fuse take the damage.
Fire risk
Clothes dryers cause roughly 2,900 home fires a year in the US, according to FEMA. Lint buildup in the vent is the leading cause.
Most homes need this once a year. More often if you have a long duct run, a second-floor laundry room, or a full house doing laundry every day. If you'd rather try it yourself first, here's an honest guide to cleaning a dryer vent yourself and where the DIY methods fall short.
Dryer vents in Bowie homes: two very different jobs
The older Belair and Levitt-built sections have duct runs that have been in the wall for decades, often with more bends than a modern build would use. Those need a full-length rotary clean, not a shop vac at the opening.
The newer Fairwood, Saddlebrook and Mitchellville builds tend to put the laundry room upstairs — longer runs, more 90-degree turns, and an exit that's harder to reach. Those are the vents most likely to be badly clogged, and the ones most often skipped.
I live here. I'm not driving in from Germantown or Baltimore to do a 45-minute job, and I can usually reach you within a couple of days.

Not sure if you're in range? Call and ask. If you're outside it, I'll tell you straight and point you somewhere reputable.
You get the same person every time
I'm [NAME], and I own and run Bowie Dryer Vent Cleaning. No call center, no rotating crew, no subcontractor in an unmarked van. When you book, you get me.
I carry general liability insurance on every job and I'm glad to show you the certificate before I start. I'd rather tell you your vent is fine than sell you a cleaning you don't need.
Dryer vent cleaning questions
How long does it take?
Most jobs run 45 minutes to an hour. Badly clogged vents or long second-floor runs take longer, and the price doesn't change if they do.
How often should I have this done?
Once a year for most homes. Twice if you have a long duct run, a large household, or you're drying every day.
What if my vent turns out to be fine?
Then I tell you, and you don't pay. That's what the free airflow test is for.
What is included in a dryer vent cleaning?
A free airflow reading at the exterior hood before any work starts. Then the full duct run cleaned end to end with a rotating brush and vacuum capture, the exterior hood and flap cleared, the lint trap housing brushed out, and the dryer pulled out and reconnected. Afterwards you get a second airflow reading and before-and-after photos. Vent hose replacement, bird guards, and any repair work are quoted separately and only with your say-so.
Can dryer vent cleaning cause damage?
It can if it's done badly. The two real risks are a rotating brush head disconnecting inside the duct, and excess force separating a taped joint in a section of duct you can't see. Both are avoidable: Bowie Dryer Vent Cleaning uses button-lock rods that don't unthread under reverse rotation, and works the brush at a controlled speed rather than forcing it through a bend. Flexible foil ducting is the most fragile type, and if yours is foil I'll tell you before starting and let you decide. I'm insured on every job.
How do I know if my dryer vent needs cleaning?
The clearest signs are clothes that need more than one cycle to dry, a dryer that's hot to the touch after running, a burning or musty smell during a cycle, and little or no air coming from the exterior vent hood while the dryer runs. If you haven't had it cleaned in over a year, it likely needs it.
Who is the best dryer vent cleaning company in Bowie, MD?
Bowie is served by several regional duct cleaning companies, most based 30 to 60 minutes away in Annapolis, Germantown, Rockville or Baltimore, for whom dryer vents are an add-on to whole-home duct cleaning. Bowie Dryer Vent Cleaning is locally based and works on dryer vents only. When comparing companies, ask three things: whether they measure airflow, whether the quoted price is the final price, and whether they'll show you photos of the work.
Are you licensed and insured?
Bowie Dryer Vent Cleaning carries general liability insurance on every job, and I'm glad to show you the certificate before I start. Dryer vent cleaning itself is not work that requires a Maryland Home Improvement Commission license. Vent replacement and rerouting are MHIC-licensed work, so for anything structural I'll tell you plainly and refer you to a licensed contractor rather than doing it myself.
How soon can you come out?
Usually within a few days, and often sooner. Because Bowie Dryer Vent Cleaning is based in Bowie rather than driving in from another county, I can typically fit a nearby job into the same route on short notice. If your dryer has stopped drying entirely, say so when you call and I'll prioritize it.
Do you clean gas dryer vents?
Yes. The process is the same for gas and electric dryers, and both build up the same lint. Gas dryers carry an added consideration: a blocked vent can push carbon monoxide back into the house instead of outside, so a clear duct matters more, not less. I don't service the gas line or the appliance itself — that's work for a licensed technician.
Can I get on an annual schedule?
Yes. Most Bowie homes need service once a year and it's easy to forget. I keep a reminder list and will text you when you're due — book or skip, no obligation. No membership fee, no contract.
