Privacy policy
Last updated 18 August 2026
Bowie Dryer Vent Cleaning is a sole proprietorship based in Bowie, Maryland, operating at bowiedryerventcleaning.com. This policy explains what information is collected, why, and what happens to it. It is written to be read rather than to be impressive.
The short version
This is a one-person dryer vent cleaning business. No accounts, no logins, no advertising network, and nothing is sold to anyone. The only personal information held is what a customer provides in order to book and receive a service.
What is collected
When you contact us
If you call, text, or email, we receive your phone number or email address and whatever you choose to tell us — typically your name, service address, and a description of the problem. Photographs you send by text are received and stored on the business phone.
When a job is booked or completed
Name, service address, phone number, email address if provided, a record of the work performed, airflow readings taken, before-and-after photographs of the vent and ductwork, and the amount charged and payment method used. Card payments are processed by a third-party payment provider; full card numbers are never seen or stored by this business.
When you visit the website
The site sets no cookies of its own and runs no advertising trackers. Web fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google and Google receives your IP address as part of that request. Standard server logs kept by the web host may record IP address, browser type, and pages requested.
What it is used for
- Scheduling, performing, and invoicing the service you requested
- Contacting you about your appointment
- Keeping a record of work performed at your property
- Sending an annual service reminder, if you have asked to be on the reminder list
Information is not used for anything else, and is not sold, rented, or traded.
Text messages
Texting the business number is treated as consent to be replied to by text about your enquiry. It is not consent to marketing messages. If you join the annual reminder list, you may leave it at any time by replying STOP or asking on any channel, and you will be removed.
Photographs of your property
Before-and-after photographs are taken as part of the service and given to you. Photographs are only used publicly — on this website, on Google, or in printed material — with your specific permission, asked for at the time. Photographs are of ductwork and vent hoods, not of your home's interior generally, and no address is ever published alongside them.
Who else sees it
- The payment processor, for the purpose of taking payment
- The web host and email provider, in the ordinary course of hosting
- Anyone required by law, if we are legally compelled
Where a job is referred to another contractor — for example a roof-terminating vent — only the details needed for them to contact you are shared, and only with your agreement.
All of the above excludes text messaging originator opt-in data and consent — that information is not shared with any third party. It is not sold or shared with anyone for promotional or marketing purposes.
How long it is kept
Job records, including airflow readings and photographs, are kept for as long as they are useful for servicing your property again, and in any case no longer than seven years, which covers the ordinary period for tax and dispute purposes. Enquiries that do not result in a job are deleted within twelve months.
Your choices
You may ask what information is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Requests are handled directly — call or text (301) 444-9318 or email hello@bowiedryerventcleaning.com. There is no charge and no form to fill in.
Maryland's Online Data Privacy Act imposes specific obligations on businesses above certain size thresholds. This business is well below those thresholds, but requests of the kind described above are honored regardless.
Children
This service is offered to adult property owners and occupiers. The site is not directed at children and no information is knowingly collected from anyone under 18.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes affecting existing customers will be communicated directly.
